Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,
Below you will find important information about upcoming events.

Multicultural Dress Day- Friday October 3
We are excited to celebrate Multicultural Dress Day on Friday, October 3! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to honor and share their heritage by wearing clothing that represents their culture.
Students are invited to come dressed in traditional attire that reflects their family’s background. Participation is optional, and students who choose not to wear cultural clothing are welcome to come in regular school uniform/dress code.
We look forward to celebrating the rich diversity of our school community together!

School Site Council
Bahia Vista Elementary families are warmly invited to join our School Site Council (SSC) meeting:
📅 Date: Wednesday, October 1, 2025
🕒 Time: 3:15 PM
📍 Location: Room 1B23 or online via Google Meet: meet.google.com/pzh-iwha-ifv
At this meeting, we’ll:
  • Share important school updates and upcoming events
  • Review and vote on our School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and Parent & Family Engagement Policy
Your voice matters—this is a great opportunity to stay involved and help shape the future of our school!

Positive Behavior Intervention & Service (PBIS) Rallies Focus on Student of the Month
We are excited to announce our very first Student of the Month recognition! This special celebration highlights students who have demonstrated outstanding character, effort, and achievement in our school community.

Students selected for this honor will be recognized at our upcoming event. Families of the students being recognized will receive a personal invitation through ParentSquare with all the details. We are proud of our students’ hard work and can’t wait to celebrate their accomplishments together!

Second Step
This week in Second Step, students learned about Unit 1, Lesson 4, which focuses on building empathy and understanding others’ feelings. Students practiced noticing facial expressions and body language, and talked about how we can show kindness when someone feels happy, sad, or upset.
You can support this at home by asking:
  • “What are some clues that tell you how a person is feeling?”
  • “How can we show care when someone is having a hard time?”
Together, we can help students strengthen their empathy and social-emotional skills.

Thank you for being such an essential part of our school community. Together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school year for every student.

In service,
Julio Villalobos, Ed.D.

Attendance Matters!

At Bahia Vista Elementary School,

We believe that every day counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in ensuring student success. When students are present, they engage in learning, build strong habits, and strengthen our school community.

I am excited to share that from September 22-26, our students showed great commitment to being present and ready to learn. A special congratulations goes out to Ms. Schulman’s & Ms. Maddalena’s Class with a 100% attendance rate for primary grade (TK-2nd) and Mr. Littee's Class with a 98.96% attendance rate for upper grades (3rd-5th grade).

All three classes were given a dragon stuff animal that they keep for the week and return it at our next PBIS rally. Your dedication to showing up every day sets a shining example for our entire school.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
