What Is a Community School?
At Bahia Vista Elementary School, we believe that student success extends beyond the classroom. As a Community School, we are committed to supporting the academic, social, emotional, and overall well-being of our students and families.
A Community School is more than just a place where students learn. It is a welcoming space where students, families, educators, and community partners work together to create opportunities, remove barriers, and ensure that every child has the support they need to thrive.
Our Community School approach focuses on these key areas:
Integrated Student Supports
We connect students and families with resources and services that support their well-being, including academic assistance, health and wellness resources, and connections to community organizations.
Family & Community Engagement
We create meaningful opportunities for families to participate in school activities, build relationships, share their voices, and take an active role in their children's education.
Collaboration
We believe that the best decisions are made together. School staff, families, students, and community partners collaborate to identify needs, celebrate strengths, and continuously improve our school.
Our Commitment to Families
At Bahia Vista, we recognize that families are our most important partners. We celebrate the cultural and linguistic diversity of our community and strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and connected.
Through our Community School approach, we work to strengthen relationships, increase access to resources, and create opportunities that help students and families succeed.
Together, we are building a stronger school community where every Dragon can thrive!
