Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Lockdown Practice Drill
Student safety is our #1 priority at all times. One of the ways we help keep our students and staff safe is by regularly practicing our emergency procedures so that everyone knows what to do in the unlikely event of a real emergency.

On Monday, November 17 at 9:30 a.m., our school will conduct a lockdown practice drill. This is only a drill and there is no known threat or danger to our campus. Teachers will carefully explain the purpose of the drill to students in age-appropriate ways, and we will keep the practice calm, brief, and structured.

These drills are an important part of our overall safety plan and are conducted in coordination with district guidelines and local safety recommendations. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school office. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students safe.

Thanksgiving Break
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of our students, parents, and staff. This time of year reminds us of the importance of community, kindness, and taking a moment to appreciate the people who support and inspire us every day. Thank you for being such an important part of our school family.

Please remember that school will be closed from Monday, November 24 through Friday, November 28 for the Thanksgiving break. Classes will resume on Monday, December 1. We hope this extended break gives your family time to rest, reconnect, and enjoy the holiday together.
Wishing you all a safe, warm, and joyful Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Spirit Week
We’re excited to celebrate Thanksgiving Spirit Week from November 17–21! This special week is all about gratitude, community, and a little extra fun as we head into the holiday season. Each day will feature a different theme to help students show their school spirit and enjoy the festive week together.
Monday – Thankful for Warmth!
Students can kick off the week in comfort by wearing their favorite pajamas.
Tuesday – Thankful for Sports!
Show your team pride by wearing your favorite sports apparel.
Wednesday – Double the Thanks!
It’s Twin Day—match outfits with a friend or group!
Thursday – Falling for School Spirit Day
Wear fall colors—orange, yellow, red, or brown—to celebrate the season.
Friday – Turkey Trot Day & Kona Ice
We’ll end the week with our annual Turkey Trot and a special Kona Ice treat.

Thank you for helping us make this a joyful and spirited week for our students. We are so grateful for our amazing school community and wish all of our families a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

In service,
Julio Villalobos

Attendance Matters!

At Bahia Vista Elementary School,

We believe that every day counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in ensuring student success. When students are present, they engage in learning, build strong habits, and strengthen our school community.

I am excited to share that from November 10-13th, our students showed great commitment to being present and ready to learn. A special congratulations goes out to Ms. Dominguez’’s Class with a 98.48% attendance rate for primary grade (TK-2nd) and Ms. Tran’s class with a 98.61% attendance rate for upper grades (3rd-5th grade).

All classes were given a dragon stuff animal that they keep for the week and return it at our next PBIS rally. Your dedication to showing up every day sets a shining example for our entire school.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
Dominguez
