Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Celebrating School Counselor Week 💙
This week, we proudly celebrate School Counselor Week and recognize the incredible impact our school counselors have on our students, staff, and families. Our counselors are often the steady presence behind the scenes—listening, guiding, advocating, and supporting students through academic challenges, social growth, and personal struggles.

They help students discover their strengths, navigate difficult moments, plan for the future, and believe in themselves when it matters most. Their work goes far beyond schedules and meetings; it’s about building trust, fostering resilience, and ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and supported.

On behalf of our entire school community, I extend my sincere gratitude to our school counselors for their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to student success. We are deeply thankful for the care and expertise you bring to our school each day. Please join me in celebrating and thanking our counselors for the vital role they play in shaping bright futures.

Parent Institute for Quality Education (PiQE)
We invite you to join us for our next PiQE Parent Engagement Workshop on Wednesday, January 28 at 6:00 PM, held virtually via Zoom (Link)

Workshop Topic: Building relationship skills and accessibility resources

Thank you for being active partners in our school community. We look forward to continuing this important work together and welcoming even more families to future PiQE sessions.

🚲 Safe Routes to School Bike Rodeo (February 3)
Our 4th grade students recently participated in a Safe Routes to School Bike Rodeo, where they learned important bicycle safety skills through fun, hands-on activities. Students practiced proper helmet use, bike handling, and safe riding behaviors while building confidence and awareness.

We thank our Safe Routes to School partners, staff, and volunteers for making this event a success. Experiences like this help our students develop healthy habits and stay safe while riding in their communities.

In service,
Julio Villalobos

Attendance Matters!

As we begin the new year, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance and look forward to starting 2026 on a strong note. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following New Year’s Attendance Resolutions:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

At Bahia Vista, we believe that every day counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in ensuring student success. When students are present, they engage in learning, build strong habits, and strengthen our school community.

I am excited to share that from January 26-29, our students showed great commitment to being present and ready to learn. A special congratulations goes out to Ms. Disanto's Class with a 98.86% attendance rate for primary grade (TK-2nd) and Ms. Koller's with a 100% attendance rate for upper grades (3rd-5th grade).

All classes were given a dragon stuff animal that they keep for the week and return it at our next PBIS rally. Your dedication to showing up every day sets a shining example for our entire school.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
