Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Dragon Store- Volunteers Needed!
We are excited to announce that our Dragon Store will be opening on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13, 2026! 🐉🎉

Students will have the opportunity to visit the Dragon Store during their scheduled class time to redeem their earned points and purchase fun items and special rewards. The Dragon Store is a wonderful way to celebrate positive behavior, responsibility, and hard work. Our students have been working so hard, and we can’t wait for them to enjoy this experience!

💚 We Need Parent Volunteers!
To make this event a success, we are looking for parent volunteers to help:
  • Assist students with shopping
  • Collect dragon dollars for items purchased
  • Support checkout and clean up

Volunteer shifts will be available throughout the school day on both Thursday and Friday, from 8:15 am-2:30pm. Even an hour of your time would make a big difference!

If you are available to help on March 12 and/or March 13, come by or contact the school office to sign up!

Thank you for your continued support in making our Dragon Store such a special experience for our students. We truly appreciate our amazing parent community!

Parent Institute for Quality Education (PiQE)
We invite you to join us for our next PiQE Parent Engagement Workshop on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:00 PM, held virtually via Zoom (Link)

Workshop Topic: Principal Dialogue

Thank you for being active partners in our school community. We look forward to continuing this important work together and welcoming even more families to future PiQE sessions.

In service,

Parent Digital Literacy Survey

In San Rafael City Schools, we want to make sure our students have the skills they need to succeed in school and in life. As part of our District’s goals for this year, we are looking at Digital Literacy.

What is Digital Literacy? It is more than just using a computer or a tablet. It is about helping our students:
  • Stay safe and protect their private information online
  • Find a healthy balance with technology (digital wellness)
  • Think deeply about the information they see on the internet
  • Obtain skills that can be useful for school and life
  • Be creative by using tools to solve problems and express their ideas

As our partners in your child’s education, we need your help! We want to hear your thoughts on how your child uses technology and what you feel is most important for them to learn.

Please take about 10 minutes to answer this short survey. Your response will help us create a better plan for our schools and support our students.

Attendance Matters!

As we begin the new year, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance and look forward to starting 2026 on a strong note. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following New Year’s Attendance Resolutions:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

I am excited to share that from February 2nd-12th, our students showed great commitment to being present and ready to learn. A special congratulations goes out to Ms. Eagle Smith’s Class with an 97.08% attendance rate for primary grade (TK-2nd) and Ms. Cherbero’s class with a 97.10% attendance rate for upper grades (3rd-5th grade). All classes were given a dragon stuff animal that they keep for the week and return it at our next PBIS rally. Your dedication to showing up every day sets a shining example for our entire school. Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
