Dear Bahia Vista Families,
English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC)
The ELPAC is the required state test for K–12 students whose primary language is not English, designed to measure English language proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. It consists of an Initial assessment for identification and a Summative assessment for tracking progress.
As part of our commitment to supporting every student’s academic success, we would like to inform you about the upcoming English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC).
The ELPAC is an important state assessment that measures how well students are progressing in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. Students who are identified as English Learners participate in this annual assessment.

During your scheduled conference, you will have the chance to:
- Review your child’s academic progress and current performance

- Ask questions about curriculum, classroom expectations, and assessments
- Partner with teachers to set goals for the remainder of the school year
Strong communication between home and school is one of the most powerful tools we have to help students thrive. We encourage every family to participate.
