Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

A Milestone for Our Families: 151 PIQE Graduates!
I am overflowing with pride as I share some incredible news from our school. This past week, we celebrated a monumental achievement: 151 of our parents and guardians officially graduated from the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) program!

For eight weeks, these dedicated individuals returned to the classroom themselves, proving that the commitment to lifelong learning and student success is a family affair. This milestone sends a powerful message to our students: your education is our top priority.

The PIQE curriculum is rigorous and comprehensive. Over the course of the two-month program, our graduates mastered a wide range of topics designed to bridge the gap between home and school. Our participants explored:
  • Family Engagement: Understanding the vital role parents play in the school ecosystem.
  • Academic Achievement: Practical strategies for supporting students' daily learning.
  • Self-Management & Relationship Building: Developing the skills to navigate school resources and build strong ties with educators.
  • Standards & Testing: Demystifying academic standards and how standardized testing impacts student growth.
  • Social Awareness & Advocacy: Empowering parents to find their voices and advocate for their children's educational needs.
  • Post-Secondary Readiness: Looking ahead to college and vocational pathways to ensure every child has a bright future.

One of the highlights of the program was our Principal Dialogue. I had the privilege of sitting down with our participants to hear their stories, answer their questions, and listen to their visions for Bahia Vista. It was a deeply moving experience that reminded me that parent engagement is alive and well at our school. When parents and schools work together as true partners, there is no limit to what our students can achieve.

To our parent graduates: Congratulations on your hard work and persistence. You are the heartbeat of our community. To our PIQE facilitators and staff who supported this journey: thank you for your unwavering dedication to our families.

In service,
Julio Villalobos

Attendance Matters!

As we begin the new year, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance and look forward to starting 2026 on a strong note. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following New Year’s Attendance Resolutions:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

I am excited to share that from March 2-5th, our students showed great commitment to being present and ready to learn. A special congratulations goes out to Ms. Eagle- Smith’s Class with an 100% attendance rate for primary grade (TK-2nd) and Mr. Littee’s class with a 100% attendance rate for upper grades (3rd-5th grade). All classes were given a dragon stuff animal that they keep for the week and return it at our next PBIS rally. Your dedication to showing up every day sets a shining example for our entire school. Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
