Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Communication is the bridge between school and home, and there is no better time to strengthen that bridge than during our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, held from March 16–20. This week is a vital opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress, celebrate their growth, and collaborate on goals for the remainder of the school year. We look forward to seeing you all on campus!

📅 Important Schedule Changes
Please take note of our modified schedule for next week to accommodate conference times:
  • Monday, March 16: NO SCHOOL for students. Staff will be dedicated to full-day conferences.
  • Tuesday, March 17 – Friday, March 20: Minimum Days. Students will be dismissed at 11:50 am.
Please ensure that transportation and childcare arrangements are made in advance for these early dismissal times.

💡 Making the Most of Your Meeting
To help you have a productive conversation with your child’s teacher, we’ve compiled a few questions you might consider asking:

Academic Progress
  • What are my child’s biggest strengths in the classroom?
  • Is my child meeting grade-level expectations in reading and math?
  • What is one specific area where my child could use more support?
Social & Emotional Growth
  • How does my child interact with their peers during group work or recess?
  • Does my child show resilience when faced with a difficult task?
  • What can I do at home to support the social skills you are teaching in class?
Daily Habits
  • Is my child participating actively in class discussions?
  • Are there any missing assignments or areas where organization could be improved?

📝 Final Reminders
If you have not yet scheduled your conference slot, please contact your students teacher and/or the front office for assistance. We aim for 100% participation because we know that when we work together, our students thrive.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for being such an integral part of our school community!

In service,
Julio Villalobos

Attendance Matters!

At Bahia Vista Elementary, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance and look forward to starting 2026 on a strong note. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
