Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Celebrating Our Classified Staff!
As we head into the upcoming week of May 18–22, we have a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and say a massive "thank you" to some of the most important people at our school. This week is Classified Appreciation Week! Our classified staff members—including our office team, custodial crew, paraeducators, campus supervisors, and food service workers—are the absolute backbone of our school. They keep our campus running smoothly, safely, and with a whole lot of love for our students.

While our district/site administration and PTA have some special treats lined up for them throughout the week, the most meaningful recognition comes directly from our students. We are inviting all families to help us shower our classified team with appreciation all week long. In addition, each classroom is coming together to recognize and appreciate our classified staff by proving either a card, banners & posters or a small gift.

Youth in Arts Sharecase!
We are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming Youth in Arts "Sharecase"! This special event is a wonderful opportunity for families to celebrate the incredible creativity, rhythm, and movement our students have been exploring this year.

What is a "Sharecase"?
Unlike a traditional performance where you sit and watch from the audience, a Sharecase is an interactive experience! You will get to step into the creative journey alongside your student. Families will have the opportunity to participate in some of our students' absolute favorite music and dance activities, experiencing the joy of the arts together.

We are incredibly grateful to our wonderful Youth in Arts residency teachers who have been working with our TK through 5th-grade students:
  • Ms. Erica Lulakwa (Music)
  • Ms. KaNi Kido (Dance)
Thank you to Youth in Arts and HeadsUp for making this residency possible for our community.
We cannot wait to dance, sing, and create memories with you all this Thursday. If you have any questions prior to the event, please feel free to reach out to barbara@youthinarts.org.

School Site Council
Please join us for our next School Site Council (SSC) Meeting as we plan for an incredible 2026-2027 academic year. Your voice and feedback are vital to our community!
  • Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
  • Time: 3:00 PM
  • Location: Room 1B23

Attendance Matters!

At Bahia Vista Elementary, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
