Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Wishing You a Meaningful Memorial Day Weekend!
Can you believe we are already approaching the end of May? The energy around our campus is buzzing as we head into the final weeks of the school year. Our students are working hard, finishing up projects, and celebrating a year full of growth and learning. I am incredibly proud of every single one of them.

As we head into this three-day weekend, I want to wish all of our families a safe and wonderful Memorial Day. While this weekend is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather and spend quality time together, it is also a special time to honor and remember the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to our country.

🗓️ Important Reminders:
  • No School Monday: School will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.
  • Classes Resume: We look forward to welcoming all students back to campus on Tuesday, May 26.
Thank you for your continued partnership, your support of our teachers, and for sending your wonderful children to Bahia Vista every day. Whether you are hosting a barbecue, visiting family, or just enjoying some quiet time at home, I hope you have a restful and happy long weekend!

🚶‍♂️ Join Our Safe Routes to School Team! 🚲
At Bahia Vista, the safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority. We are looking for parent volunteers to join us in supporting our Safe Routes to School program!
This is a wonderful, low-commitment opportunity to get involved, connect with other families, and help make our school mornings safer and more fun.
📋 Volunteer Details:
  • When: Just one Wednesday a month (or more if you'd like!).
  • Time: Only 30 to 45 minutes during morning drop-off.
  • What you’ll do: Help staff our Safe Routes to School tables right in front of the school gates, greeting students and handing out fun incentives.
  • Bonus perk: As a huge thank you for your time, the Safe Routes to School Program will provide volunteers with a $20 Target gift card! 🎯
🎒 How to Sign Up:
If you can spare less than an hour a month to support our community, we would love to have you.
  • Email: Reach out directly to Monica Leifer at monica@marinbike.org or In Person: Simply stop by the Bahia Vista front office and let our staff know you are interested.

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students safe, active, and healthy!

In service,
Julio Villalobos

Attendance Matters!

At Bahia Vista Elementary, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
