Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Field Day!
It is that time of year! In lieu of having a dragon store, we are instead having a BV Field Day on Friday, June 5 for our TK through 5th-grade students, and we need your help to make it an unforgettable, high-energy day of fun!
We are looking for 4 to 8 parent volunteers to help with stations, cheer on our student, and keep the fun moving smoothly.

Here are the details:
  • 📅 When: Friday, June 5
  • Time Commitment: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (This includes a quick morning briefing before the first rotation starts!)
  • 📍 Where: The School Field
  • 👟 What to bring: Comfortable shoes, a water bottle, sunscreen, and your school spirit!
Our students will be rotating through 4 awesome activity stations in 40-minute blocks, so the morning will fly by. Whether you can help manage a station or assist with transitions, your support makes this day possible for our kids.

How to Sign Up: If you are available and would like to volunteer, please let the front office know, they will jot down your information (Name).

Thank you so much for your continuous support in making BV such a fun place to learn and grow. We couldn’t do it without our amazing parent community!

Quick Update: End-of-Year i-Ready Assessments
As we wrap up an incredible school year, students will soon finish their final i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments in Reading and Math. This adaptive test helps us measure your child's growth and plan for their success next school year.

How You Can Help:
  • Rest & Fuel: Ensure your child gets plenty of sleep and a healthy breakfast.
  • Stay Positive: Remind them to simply try their best and show how much they’ve grown.
  • Take It Slow: Encourage them to take their time and read questions carefully.

Our testing window ends Friday, June 5. Thank you for your continued partnership in finishing this year strong!

School Site Council
This is a quick reminder that our next School Site Council (SSC) Meeting will be held this Thursday, June 4, at 3:00 PM in the Family Resource Center (FRC).

During this meeting, we will review our School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)- Draft. Together, we will look closely at our goals, metrics, and strategies to ensure our students are set up for success in the upcoming school year. Your voice and feedback are incredibly valuable to our school community. We hope to see you there!

In service,
Julio Villalobos

Attendance Matters!

At Bahia Vista Elementary, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
