Dear Bahia Vista Families,

California PBIS Recognition
I am thrilled to share some wonderful news with our school community! Bahia Vista Elementary has officially been recognized by the California PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Coalition with the Silver Implementation Award for our commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment. (Check out the emblem on top of the Principal Newsletter)

This award reflects our dedicated work in establishing school-wide behavioral expectations, teaching positive behaviors directly, and celebrating our students when they succeed. It is a testament to the daily efforts of our incredible teachers and staff, who work tirelessly to ensure every child feels valued, safe, and ready to learn.

What This Award Means for Our School
  • A Stronger Culture: Our PBIS framework helps reduce classroom disruptions and increases time spent on meaningful learning.
  • Student-Centered Support: We proactively teach behavioral expectations—just like reading or math—giving students the tools they need to navigate social and emotional growth.
  • Community Success: Recognizing positive behavior reinforces a safe, welcoming campus where all students can thrive.

This achievement would not be possible without your partnership at home. By reinforcing values like respect, responsibility, and ready to learn, you help us build a strong foundation for our students every day.

Thank you for your continued support, dedication, and trust in our school. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to shine together!

i-Ready Assessments
As we settle into a great school year, our students in 1st through 5th grade will soon take the i-Ready Diagnostic assessment for Reading and Mathematics. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that helps our teachers pinpoint each child’s unique strengths and areas for growth. It adjusts its difficulty based on your child's responses, giving us a clear picture of how to support their individual learning journey this year.

Key Testing Details
  • Testing Window: August 24- September 11
  • Grades Participating: 1st – 5th Grade
  • Subjects: Reading and Mathematics

How You Can Help at Home:
You do not need to study or drill concepts before the assessment. The best preparation is simple:
  • Rest & Nutrition: Ensure your child gets a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.
  • Positive Mindset: Remind them that i-Ready is not a graded test—it simply shows teachers what they know and what they are ready to learn next.
  • On-Time Arrival: Arriving at school on time helps students start their day calm and unhurried.
Results will be shared with families at parent conference. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s learning and success!

In service,
Julio Villalobos- Principal
