Dear Bahia Vista Families,

Back to School Night:
We are excited to invite you to our annual Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 2, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM! This evening is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, learn about classroom routines and goals, and build the strong family-school partnership that helps our students thrive.
Schedule of Events
  • 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM: Community Partners Tabling
  • 5:45 PM – 6:00 PM: Administrator Welcome at the Flagpole
  • 6:00 PM – 6:05 PM: Transition to Classrooms
  • 6:05 PM – 6:30 PM: Classroom Session — Round 1
  • 6:30 PM – 6:35 PM: Transition
  • 6:35 PM – 7:00 PM: Classroom Session — Round 2
Note: We offer two classroom sessions so families with more than one student have the opportunity to visit multiple teachers!

Second Step:
This week, our classes are kicking off Unit 1 of Second Step: Growth Mindset & Goal Setting!
In Lesson 1, students are learning how their brains grow and change when they tackle new challenges. We are exploring the power of a "growth mindset"—the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, good strategies, and practice.
  • What We’re Learning: Mistakes are a natural part of learning, and asking for help or trying a new approach helps our brains build strong connections.
  • Try This at Home: Ask your child about something challenging they tried today. If they say, "I can't do this," remind them to add the magic word: "Yet!" (e.g., "I can't do this yet.")
Partnering with you helps these skills stick. Thank you for supporting your child's learning journey!

Coffee with the Principal:
I am excited to invite you to our first Coffee with the Principal of the year on Thursday, September 3, from 7:45 AM to 8:15 AM. We will be gathered right in front of the main gates with a fresh cup of coffee waiting for you. This is a relaxed, informal opportunity to connect, ask questions, and chat with me, our Assistant Principal, and our Family Resource Center (FRC) staff. During this time, you will also have the opportunity to vote for our School Site Council (SSC) Parent Representatives. Your voice and involvement play a vital role in shaping our school’s priorities and success, and we would love your input.

  • When: Thursday, September 3 | 7:45 AM – 8:15 AM
  • Where: In front of the school gates

Whether you can stay for the whole half-hour or just drop by for a few minutes after drop-off, we would be thrilled to see you there. Thank you for your continued partnership!
Dental Health Screenings:
We are excited to share an upcoming special health opportunity for our students! On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Bahia Vista Elementary School is partnering with the County of Marin Local Oral Health Program (LOHP), the Marin Medical Reserve Corp (MMRC), and Marin Community Clinics to offer a Free Dental Screening for all TK through 5th-grade students.
Key Event Details:
  • Date: Thursday, September 3, 2026
  • Eligible Grades: TK – 5th Grade
  • What to Expect: Licensed dentists and registered dental hygienists will conduct a brief visual check only using dental mirrors to assess tooth decay. This is not a dental procedure.
  • Results: A result form will be sent home with your child the week following the event. Information will only be used by school staff and LOHP to provide recommendations and help coordinate care with local providers if urgent needs are identified.

Opt-Out Process: Your child will automatically receive this free screening UNLESS you choose to opt out. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please contact the school office directly at +1 415-485-2415 on or before the day of the event.
