Principal Message

Dear Bahia Vista Families,

ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California)

As we move further into the spring season, it is time for our students to demonstrate their growth in English language proficiency! The ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) is an essential tool that helps us understand how well our students are progressing in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

To ensure our students can perform their best in a comfortable environment, we have organized a specific testing schedule by grade level.

ELPAC Testing Schedule 2026
Please take a moment to find your child’s grade level below to see when they will be participating:

March 23 – March 27 Group Testing 4th Grade
March 23 – March 27 1 :1 Individual Testing3rd & 5th Grade
March 30 – April 3 Group Testing 3rd & 5th Grade
April 20 – April 24. Writing (Group) 2nd Grade
April 27 – May 15. 1:1 Individual Testing Kinder, 1st, & 2nd Grade

How You Can Help at Home
We want our students to feel confident and ready on their testing days. You can support them by:
  • Ensuring a Good Night’s Sleep: A well-rested brain is a focused brain!
  • Eating a Healthy Breakfast: Fueling up in the morning helps with concentration.
  • Arriving on Time: Being at school when the bell rings helps students start their day calmly.
  • Encouragement: A simple "do your best" goes a long way in reducing any testing jitters.

Note: For our younger students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade, the one-on-one testing format allows them to work directly with a friendly staff member, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. If you have any questions regarding these dates or the assessment process, please don't hesitate to contact the front office.

2026 Reclassification Ceremony – Celebrating Our Students!

We are incredibly proud of our BV students who are going to be recognized at our 2026 SRCS Reclassification Ceremony. This special evening is dedicated to honoring our students who have reached a major milestone: achieving official proficiency in the English language!

This year, we are thrilled to celebrate 26 of our very own Bahia Vista students for their hard work, perseverance, and academic success.
  • When: Thursday, March 26, 2026
  • Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
  • Where: Terra Linda High School Gymnasium
This achievement is a huge step forward in your child’s educational journey, and we want to celebrate this moment with the entire community. Families, friends, and teachers are all encouraged to attend and cheer on our scholars as they receive their awards.

We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating the bright futures of our Bahia Vista stars!

In service,
Julio Villalobos

Attendance Matters!

At Bahia Vista Elementary, we remain committed to the importance of regular school attendance and look forward to starting 2026 on a strong note. Consistent attendance plays a vital role in student learning, engagement, and success. To support this goal, we invite families to consider the following:

  • Be consistent: Establish a daily routine with a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Prepare clothing, school materials, and other essentials the night before, and use alarm clocks to support timely mornings.
  • Be organized: Whenever possible, schedule medical appointments and family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.
  • Be direct: Talk with your child about the importance of attending school on time every day and how it contributes to their academic and personal growth.
  • Be mindful: Monitor your child’s attendance and stay aware of any missed days. Partner with the school if challenges arise, and recognize and celebrate improvements and positive habits.
  • Be healthy: Encourage an active lifestyle and ensure your child gets adequate rest so they arrive at school refreshed, focused, and ready to learn.

Let’s continue to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students build a bright future—one school day at a time!
